About Our Practice

Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia is a locally owned, fully accredited sleep medicine facility with three locations in the central Virginia area.  Founded in 1995 by Read F. McGehee, Jr. M.D. as a two bed facility in Richmond, Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia has now expanded to 16 beds in the central Virginia area.  Our providers offer extensive experience in the field of sleep medicine.  Please visit Sleep Specialists to read about their education and extended training in this specialized field of medicine.

Each facility in the central Virginia area is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  This accreditation is a significant accomplishment and Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia is proud to operate three of the four facilities that are accredited in the region.  Accreditation signifies that the facility meets all regulations pertaining to a medical practice, has a Diplomate of the American Board of Sleep Medicine on staff, and maintains a staff of appropriately trained and supervised technicians.  Accreditation also requires that the facility meets standards of Patient Acceptance, Facility and Equipment, Policies and Procedures, Data Acquisition, Patient Evaluation, Charting, Emergency Procedures, Education,  and Quality Assurance.  Sleep Disorders Center of Virginia strives to provide the highest quality of facilities and patient care available.
