2) Why do I have to see a Sleep Center doctor before scheduling a sleep study?

 

All new patients must schedule an office visit with one of our sleep specialists prior to any testing.  This might be different from other sleep labs you have visited or heard about.

 

The initial consultation enables the doctor to review your medical history and obtain a detailed account of your sleep problem.  It also gives you the opportunity to meet the specialist who will interpret your sleep study results, and to tour the sleep laboratory should you need a test.

 

The initial consultation allows you to become accustomed with our office, the location, and what will happen the night of your sleep study, before you are actually expected to sleep in an unfamiliar environment.

 

All of these factors will play a role in making you feel comfortable enough to sleep during your sleep study.
